AMRAZ-E-RAS (Diseases of the Head)

1 SUDA (Headche)

Headache is of different types, felt all over the head or sometimes in any part of it. Nausea and vomiting is also present in some cases.

Prescription No. 1

Ustukhudus  3 g.
Dhania     3 g.
Kali Mirch (Black Pepper)  5 #

Method of preparation   :     Make a fine powder
Administration            :      Take with water, early morning on empty stomach. Take rest in bed for half an hour.

Prescription No. 2

Babool flower 10 g. each.
Dhania
Kernal of Kadu seeds

 

Method of preparation Make a fine powder.
Administration 3 g. with water, twice daily.

 
Prescription No. 3

Balchhar 6 g. each.

Sonth

Method of preparation      :   Boil in 120 ml. of water, strain and sweeten with sugar.
Administration                :    Take on empty stomach in the morning

 
Prescription No. 4

Kafoor 500 mg.
Naushadar 2 gm.

Method of preparation       :   Make a fine powder of each of the above ingredients separately, mix well and keep in a clean glass bottle, well stopered.

Administration                 :     use as inhaler.

Ajwain Khurasani Equal Parts.

Darchini


Method of preparation  :  Make a fine powder, add a little water or vineger, mix well and make a paste.

Administration            :  Apply the paste on a piece of cloth and stick on temporal region on one or both sides.

Prescription No.6

Satt-e-Podina Equal parts.
Satt-e-Ajwain
Kafoor

Method of preparation : Mix well the ingredients (when the ingredients are mixed the mixture becomes a liquid).

Note                          : This preparation is called Araq-e-Ajeeb.

Administration            :  3 drops in water may be taken orally. May also be applied on the forehead and the temporal regions.

Prescription No. 7

Juice of fresh 25 ml.
Chameli leaves
250 mg.
Salt

 
Method of preparation :     Dissolve the salt in the juice and preserve in a clean glass bottle.

Administration            :     Instil 3 drops in the nose, twice a day or as often as required.

Prepared Medicines :
Any of the following may be taken:

1. Iftrifal Ustukhudus 7 g. at bed time.
2. Itrifal Zamani         10 g. at bed time.
3. Itrifal Kishneezi  7 g. at bed time.
4. Khamira Goazaban  6 g. in the morning before  Amberi  breakfast.
5. Qurs Musallas Rub in water and apply on forehead.
6. Barshasha 3 g. at the time of pain.
7. Araq-e-Ajeeb A few drops to be applied on the forehead.

   
2. SHAQIQA (Migraine)

This is periodic headache, usually on one side of the head. At times spreads all over the head. The attacks vary in duration from a few minutes to several days and are associated with nausea and vomiting.

Prescription No. 1

Rind of Reetha One number.

       
Method of preparation    : Rub in 60 ml. of water till it foams.

Administration               : Instil 2 drops in the nose.

Prescription No 2

White Biskhapra leaves Q.S.

Method of preparation : Crush and extract the juice.

Administration           : Instil 2 drops in the nose.

Nose                         : If fresh leaves are not available, sock dried leaves in water overnight, strain and use as nasal drops.

Prescription No. 3

Rai 1 gm.

Method of preparation   : Grind with 25 ml. of water and strain.

Administration               : Instil 1 to 2 drops in the nose.

Prescription No. 4

Dhania 3 g.
Ustukhudus 3 g.
Kali Mirch (Black Pepper) 5 numbers.


Method of preparation    : Make a fine powder.

Administration                : Take with water before sunrise and take rest in bed for an hour.

Prepared Medicines :
Any of the following may be taken:

1. Itrifal Ustukhudoous  7 g. at bed time.
2. Itrifal Zamani  10 g. at bed time.
3. Itrifal Kishneezi 7 g. at bed time.
4. Khamira Gaozaban 6 g. in the morning before Amberi breakfast.
5. Qurs Musallas Rub in water and apply on forehead.
6. Barshastgha 3 g. at the time of pain.
7. Araq-e-Ajeeb Apply 2 drops on forehead.

 
Instructions :
The patient should not take any diet before or during acute state and should take complete rest and avoid bright light.

3.  SADAR-O-DUWAR (Giddiness, Vertigo)

Prescription No. 1

Khashkhash 4 g. each.
Dhania
seeds.
Pulp of Binola


Method of preparation    :  Grind with 120 ml. of water and strain.

Administration                :   Take daily in the morning.

Prescription No. 2

Mehndi seeds 4 g.
Honey 10 g.

    
Method of preparation    : Make a fine powder of Mehndi seeds and mix with Honey.

Administration                : Take as linctus (Chatni) twice daily.

Prescription No. 3

Amla Murabba (Jam)  One number.
Silver leave One number.

      
Administration     :    Take on amla murabba wrapped in silver leave daily in the morning before breakfast.

Prescription No 4

Pulp of Imli (Tamarind) 25 g.
Sugar 6 g.

    
Method of preparation       : Soak the pulp in 120 ml. of water, strain after one hour and add sugar.

Administration                  : Twice daily.

Note                                : Specially useful in biliousness.

Prescription No 5

Powdered Asrol 500 mg.

Administration    :  Take as such with water at bed time.

Prepared Medicines :
Any of the following may be taken:

1. Kushta Marjan   with Khamira Goazaban
Amberi
 

500 mg.
6 g. in the morning.

2. Kushta Khubsul
Hadeed or
Kushta Faulad with
Jawarish Jalinoos

500 mg.
500 mg.
7 g. at bed time.
3. Itrifal Kishneezi  7 g. at bed time.

4. NAZLA-O-ZUKAM (Common cold)
Attack of sneezing, watery discharge from nose, headache, cough, malaise and sometimes mild fever.

Prescription No. 1

Saboos-e-Gandum (Wheat husk) 6 g.
Kali Mirch (Black Pepper) 5 numbers.
Salt 1 g.

        
Method of preparation    : Boil in 120 ml. of water and strain.

Admnistration                : Twice daily

Prescription No. 2

Sipistan leaves or  Fresh leaves of Amrood 12g.
Salt 1 g.


Method of preparation : Boil in 180 ml. of water and strain.

Admnistration            : Once or twice daily on empty stomach.

Prescription No. 3

Banafsha flower 6 g.

Method of preparation : Boil in 120 ml. of water and strain.

Administration            : Twice daily on empty stomach.

Prescription No. 4

Behiqdana 3g.
Unnab 5 numbers.
Sipistan 9 numbers.

   
Method of preparation    : Boil the last two drugs in 120 ml. of water and strain. Sock Behiqdana in 60 ml. of water, exract the mucilage, mix with the decoction and sweeten with honey.

Administration             : Twice daily.

Note                            : Specially useful in summer coryza and dry cough.

Prescription No. 5

Darchini 6g.

Method of preparation      : Boil in 120 ml. of water, strain and sweeten with sugar.

Administration                : Twice daily.

Prepared Medicines :
Any of the following may be taken

1. Lauq Sipistan Dissolve 10 g. of the lauq in 120 ml. of water and take at bed time.
2. Lauq Motadil Dissolve 10 g of the lauq in 120 ml. of hot water and take at bed time.
3. Sharbat Sadar 25 ml. mixed with 60 ml. of lukewarm water at bet time.
4. Sharbat Banafsha 25 ml. mixed with 60 ml. of lukewarm water at bed time.
5. Tiryaq Nazla  7g. in the morning.
6. Khamira Khashkhash 7 g. in the morning.
7. Itfifal Ustukhudoos  6 g. with water at bed time.
8. Araq Gaozaban 120 ml. in the morning.

Instructions     : Cold drinks and sour food should be avoided.  Exposure to cold is harmful.

5. SAHAR (Sleeplessness)

Prescription No. 1

Khashkhash 4 g. each.
Kernel of Kadu seeds
Kahu seeds

Method of preparation   : Grind with 120 ml. of water and sweeten with sugar.

Administation                : Twice daily

Prescription No. 2

Darchini 3g.

Method of preparation : Boil in 120 ml. of water, strain and sweeten with sugar.

Administration           :   Twice daily.

Prescription No 3

Fresh leaves of Bhan 30 g.

Method of preparation   : Grind with water and make a paste.

Administration              : Apply the paste on soles.

Prescription No 4

Kadu oil Equal parts.
Banafsha oil

Method of preparation     : Mix the two preserve

Administration               : Apply on the head and soles before going to bed. Use as ear drops and apply in the anus also.

Prescription No. 5

Asrol root Q.S.

Method of preparation      : Make a fine powder.

Administration                : 500 mg. with water at bed time.

Note  : Asrol is a specific remedy for high blood pressure but the dose must not be exceeded.

Prepared Medicines :
Any of the following may be taken :

1. Roghan Lubqoob-e-Sab'a  
2. Roghan Khashkhash Massage any of the roghans on   the scalp at bed time.
3. Roghan Badam  
4. Khamira Khashkhas 6 g. in the morning.
5. Khamira Banafsha 6 g. at bed time.
6. Barshasha 6 g. at bed time.
7. Halwa Badam  15 g. in the morning.

Instructions  : Morning walk, daily bath and light diet are advised. Stimulants such as coffee and tea should be avoided. Try to avoid nervous tension.

6. SARA' (Mirgee, Epilepsy)

The fit comes on suddenly. The patient qils and falls and becomes unconscious. His face becomes blue and froth comes out of the mouth. Tongue is bitten. The eye-ball rolls. Sometimes urine and stools are passed involuntarily. Patients becomes normal gradually. The fits occur at short or long intervals.

Prescription No. 1

Aqarqarha 12 g.

Method of preparation  : Make a fine powder

Administration            : Mix 1g. of the powder with 6 g. of honey and take in the morning. This powder may also be used as a snuff at the onset of the fit.

Prescription No. 2

Fresh leaves of Ispand Q.S.

Method of preparation     : Extract the juice and instil.

Administration               :   Instil  2 drops in the nose at the onset of the fit.

Prescription No. 3

Nakchhikni Q.S.

Method of preparation     : Make a fine powder.

Administration               : Use as snuff at the onset of the fit.

Prepared Medicines
Any of the following may be taken :

1. Khamira Gaozaban   Jadwar'od-Saleeb wala  6 g. in the morning.
2. Habb-e-Sara' 2 pills twice daily.
3. Habb-e-Jund 2 pills twice daily.
4. Majoon Najah 6g. at bed time.

Instructions   : During the attack the patient should lie on his back with the head slightly raised. A piece of soft wool, a cork or the handle of a wooden spoon should be placed between the teeth to prevent the tongue being bitten. The face should be sprayed with cold water. Tight garments on the body should be loosened. The physician must be consulted for checkup and regular treatment.
